I would like to point out some issues I find in understanding the current 'Content Gap' Tool:
i) Using a table to show common keywords between Target and Competitor ends up duplicating half the content of the table (below the diagonal). See the attached image.
ii) Secondly, if the numbers in each cell of the table correspond to the number of common keywords (a set-intersection), then surely we would expect to see the 'intersection of Target with itself' shown as all the keywords which Target ranks for. Instead, we see empty cells on the diagonal axis.
My suggested alternative UX:
Use a Venn or Euler diagram to show keywords common to Target and Competitors as set-intersections. I think this would be clearer to visualise as a teaching aid. My suggestion might look something like the attached image. Let me know what you think?
