Hello,

We're currently tracking a set of keywords in Rank Tracker to closely monitor their performance (positions, share of voice, etc.), and I’ve noticed a limitation regarding how rankings are reported when AI Overviews appear in the SERP.

For example, a keyword may show Position = 1 in Ahrefs, but in the actual Google SERP the page might appear within the AI Overview sources, or below the AI Overview as the first organic result. In both cases the reported ranking may still appear as “1”, although the actual visibility is quite different.

For instance:

-a page could be **the 1st cited source in the AI Overview

-or mentioned 5th in the AI Overview text without being listed as a cited source

-or the 8th cited source in the AI Overview

-or the page could be the #1 traditional organic result but located below the AI Overview

These situations have very different visibility for users, but they may currently appear as the same ranking position.

It would be very helpful if Ahrefs could differentiate between:

-traditional organic ranking

-presence within AI Overviews

-position among AI Overview cited sources

-potentially whether a page is in the AI Overview

This would make rank tracking and Share of Voice analysis much more accurate as AI Overviews become more common.

Is Ahrefs currently working on features related to tracking AI Overview presence or positions within them?
