I have noticed the same bug. When using the "Check HTTP status of external links" option. Ahrefs fails to check the HTTP status of external links that are in the same domain as the project's scope but not under the scope.

For example, when I set the scope of the project to https://mui.com/toolpad/, the crawl fails to report this broken link: https://mui.com/bar.
